18+ In NSW: Where Can I Get Vaccinated?
This is a PSA to our Sydneysider pals 📢
With all the changes in the news cycle and updates from family and friends, it might get a bit confusing when you just want to know the facts. We did the digging for ya and have got all the latest info if you’re after receiving the jab.
Disclaimer: I’m no health professional so do not take advice from a 22-year-old writer but we’ve done the research and here are the options available to you right now.
How do I know if I'm eligible?
According to recent health advice, as long as you are over 18-years-old, you can now get the jab. It is free for everyone living in Australia. You don’t need a prescription from your doctor and according to the Department of Health website, whether or not you have a Medicare card, you’re still entitled to the vaccine.
Speak to your GP about your options
Before anything, it’s probably best to give your GP a visit and tell them you’re keen on getting vaccinated - they’ll walk you through the potential risks against your medical history and advise which jab is right for you.
According to our poll results last week, we found out that 49% of you have hesitations on taking the vaccines but while the risks are minimal, it’ll be reassuring to know you’ve spoken to a healthcare professional about it first + chances are they’ll be able to administer the jab or point you in the direction of where to go!
How do I get it and where can I go?
Vaccines have been made accessible at local pharmacies with no referral for Sydney residents. That’s right, you don’t have to see your doctor - the pharmacist will ask you the health specific questions needed. Have a geeze at the Vaccine Clinic Finder website - answer some questions, type in your postcode and you’ll find pharmacies that immunise near you.
There are also NSW Health clinics that offer walk-ins in Covid affected areas where you don’t need to book an appointment ahead - click here to find out where these clinics are.
Extra resources for guidance
Aside from those, you can still go to the general vaccination hubs with an appointment. Suss out booking times + advice on the Vaccine Eligibility Checker website as well as some frequently asked questions with credible, evidence-based info on the Department of Health website.
Don't stress - we know it's all pretty hard to keep up with, so if there are any changes, we'll let ya know!
