Why Now Is The Perfect Time To Make A Change
You don’t need to read this article to know that things are a little out of the ordinary atm.
Things are changing every day – new laws are rolling in, schools are trialling with remote teaching, Maccas runs with four of your best mates crammed into the car are all of a sudden frowned upon and the fate of end of year exams is up in the air.
It’s safe to say that when this pandemic is over, life won’t be the same as it was before. We ain’t saying life will necessarily be worse – it’s just that big global events don’t just pop up and then disappear without a few changes being thrown into the mix.
Maybe your parents will be able to work from home more often. Maybe schools will integrate a more virtual approach into their teaching and we’ll all be playing handball with our mates over Zoom meetings at lunch time. Maybe not.
However, with all the stuff going down atm, it’s not just society that gets to make a few changes.
You do, too.
What do you want to change?
We’ve all had to spend a lot more time on our own lately, and unless you’ve spent every waking minute scrolling through TikTok you’ve probably had a lot more time to think about life.
When all this is over, what do you want to change about your life?
Maybe you’ve gained a greater appreciation for time spent outside and time spent with your closest mates.
Perhaps you started exercising during isolation in order to get out of the house, and you’ve decided you want to keep that going in the future.
Or maybe the change is something bigger.
Now is the absolutely perfect time to not just transform a small part of your day-to-day routine, but to completely alter the direction of your life.
Follow a new path in life
Have a think about what parts of your normal life isolation has stopped you from doing. It could be your job, your degree, your friendships - anything really. Now think about which of these things you’ve actually missed doing, and which ones you’ve secretly been thanking the universe for getting you out of them.
If getting some time off your degree has been a blessing, then ask yourself – why are you studying that degree?
Now think about what you’ve been doing with all this spare time. Have you been smashing out your hobbies and realised they are what inspire and motivate you? Found any new interests? If you’ve found anything that you’re quite happy to do all day, you’re on the right path. Keep doing that. Is there a way to make a life around it?
Chase your passions.
If a tonne of people come out of this time with completely new career paths, don’t be surprised. There’s seriously no better time to get a fresh start, or to spend a few months growing your skills in the stuff you actually want to do.
If you’ve found yourself getting creative in your spare time, and wanna keep that ball rolling – or perhaps realised it’s your creative passions that you want to pursue then you definitely need to check out JMC Academy. They’re the antidote to dead-end careers and give you the opportunity to have a crack at doing what you love in life.
Whether you’re into music, film, gaming, digital design, animation, or anything creative, they’ve most likely got ya covered with a degree that you can get into without even showing them your ATAR (and you can check out their degrees here).
If you wanna hear more from JMC, then you should check them out at the Year13 Expo this May 18-22.
They will be hosting an Experts presentation where JMC staff will answer all your questions about a creative degree and a creative career. You’ll also hear from a couple JMC graduates throughout the week showing you how they forged their own way in life and found success. And if you want to find out even more about JMC’s creative courses, you can register for their Online Open Day here.
