SOS. I hate my job. I hate my degree. I hate the path I have set out for me...

If you're reading this, you're probably feeling a bit dazed and confused when it comes to careers. You're probably asking the age-old question, should I stay or should I go?

Should I stick with this career path that I've worked so hard for despite hating it with every cell of my being? Or should I go, feeling like I've wasted time, money and energy, and try something different?

Let it be known that you aren't the first and you definitely won't be the last to have these thoughts. You see, whilst you constantly change, your dreams, values and interests change with you, making it completely natural for you to realise, oh bugger, I don't like what I'm pursuing. We also sometimes follow what we think we should and realise a little too late, hey, this doesn't make me a happy chappy.

So you're feeling pretty frazzled... That's good! That's your mind and bodies way of saying "hey dude, you're on the wrong track, should we go back or take a detour?"

You may be thinking, but what else can I do? What other skills do I have? What else could I see myself pursuing? Do I even have a Plan B?

You might be worried about what your friends and family will think. No one wants to look like a "failure" or a "dropkick" for changing uni degrees, dropping out of it altogether, quitting your job or what have you...

Some people might tell you to shine it on: "Come on, a job is just a job, you don't have to love it"... Some might convince you that you shouldn't throw it all away and start over.

But here's what it all comes down to, and it's really simple actually.

Does this career path make you happy? Because news flash, we all deserve to be happy.

There are tonnes of options out there that could make you happier, you just have to be bold enough to go for them. If you're pretty overwhelmed by all these prospects, suss out our Post-School Plan to narrow down your search and find out your other options available to you whilst also reaching for the dang stars.

There is no shame in starting fresh. There's no shame in leaving something behind that you hate. There is absolutely and utterly no shame in chasing what makes you happy. So start there and dream big baby.
