Alright, I am no Dr. Google here but I have had my fair share of fatigueness growing up. Could it have been from going to school, running to my part-time job after work and then completing assignments after work, the day before it was due? Yes, I am that unorganised, sue me.

Whether you’re burning out more frequently than usual or struggling to stay awake during a study sesh, you could be running yourself into the ground without even realising it.

If you’re a last minute, undisciplined mess like I am, here are some reasons as to why you’re struggling to stay focused, fuelled up and motivated during your young adult years.

You’re skipping meals

Finding yourself missing out on a sammich or two during lunchtime because you’re too absorbed in your work? Take a step back, go heat up your Breville and get a hit of goodness in ya. You’ll come back roaring and refreshed to get what you needed to get done, done!

You’re leaving the hardest work to the latest time at night

You’ve got some of the most difficult math homework and you’ve left it until after you’ve had dinner, your cuppa and read your book. Why not get started on it as soon as you’ve stepped foot in the door, while you’re still buzzing from school? Look, let’s not tell fibs - you’re probably exhausted from six straight hours of learning but what’s another hour?

You’re not giving yourself long enough breaks

Very much so contradicts what I just said above but this is more for the longer hours study sesh. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! Stand up, walk around your backyard, play fetch with your dog, annoy a friend - literally anything that separates your hard work.

You’re not getting enough sleep

Whether you’re a fiend for a late night study sesh, it may not be fitting into your everyday routine (and btdubs, your morning coffee isn’t always going to give you that boost). So put down the books and get to sleep earlier!

You’re getting too much sleep

Alright, so you’re a goody-two-shoes and actually going to bed at an appropriate time. What about when your alarm goes off in the morn? Are you a bit of a snoozer? As soon as you shut your eyes, your body wants to go back into a deep sleep but waking up 15 minutes later is just going to make you tired-er. Wake up when your body needs to!
