Here's Why Work Experience Is Worth It In Construction
When it comes time to think about subject selections and what you wanna do with your life, it can be a bit daunting. Ok, very daunting.
We base our subject choices on professions which we have no information on, and have zero idea what life is really like in that industry. You can read about it all you like, but you never know until you experience it for yourself.
Good news is, you can. Work experience is the perfect way to tip your toe into a career before diving in head first. Not only is it the perfect taster, but it ensures you don't waste any time or money on something you actually despise.
So what's life really like as a chippy?
At the last Year13 Expo, we had a chat with Jackson Harry, who was titled the 2019 Master Builders Victoria State Apprentice of the Year. Passionate about the building and construction industry and a real-life chippy, he spoke about the benefits and rewards of undertaking an apprenticeship and the importance of work experience.
With a lot of opportunities available and many different career options, the best pathway can be tricky to navigate. Thankfully our mates at Master Builders Victoria offer a helping hand to navigate the opportunities available in the construction industry. They also help those currently in the industry with their career progression, cause who doesn’t love levelling up (no pun intended).
