Is It Too Late To Start A Youtube Channel Now?

Youtube has come a longgg way since this video (aka the first video ever uploaded on the website): 🦒

Now, 500 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every 👏 minute 👏 worldwide👏. That's 720,000 hours of video uploaded every day. 😵‍💫 You're probably thinking well damn, point taken. Youtube is way too oversaturated for any more channels.

Wrong, wrong, oh so wrong. Here is why 2021 is the best time to upload your first vid.🎥

Digital content is growing every dang day

No sh*t sherlock. 720,000 hours a day is a fat number. So fat that my two brain cells can't fathom it.

But here's the thing. Sure, that's a lot of content, but there's a maaaasssive audience. 2.3 billion people use Youtube every month. 😵‍💫

I remember when watching Youtube videos back in like 2011 was kinda lame. Making them was even worse. (Did I make a Hunger Games parody with my friends where we attacked each other with sticks that year? Yes. Did it get a million views overnight? Unfortunately. Did I delete it because everyone at school teased me about it. 10000% definitely...)

Now all those kids that teased me are all scrolling through Youtube videos daily. It's all we do! We use Youtube for entertainment, advice, comfort and tutorials. We watch music videos, movie trailers, video game walkthroughs, Ted talks and exercise routines... I personally adore wack videos like this that restore my faith in humanity:

Whatever floats ya dingy. There's a place for everyone on Youtube. 

Yes, there are a lot of Youtube videos out there. But there are even more Youtube audience members. So what content can you provide them!?! Can you teach the violin, post short films, create Casey Neistat-esque vlogs, share book reviews...? What are you good at? What are you passionate about? Chances are, there's an audience for it.

It's free 

This isn't a high-stakes situation. You don't NEED to get famous on Youtube overnight. This is probably just a hobby that you wouldn't mind trying out, so treat it as such!

The best thing about this hobby is it's free! No no, you don't need to buy a camera the price of Jesus' tears. Your cracked iPhone will do just fine. You don't need to buy a proper light. Just use daylight or get creative with some torches. Who needs a tripod when you've got books? 

You'll learn a tonne of transferable skills

You'll become a boss at scheduling and time management when you commit to a Youtube channel. 

You'll also pick up skills to do with video content like framing a bangin' shot, being comfortable in front of the camera, editing the video... Then, you'll dabble in social networking and marketing to get your video out there. These are all suuuuper in-demand skills rn! As we said before, digital content is constantly growing every day! Companies wanna hire people that have digital skills! 

These are all skills that'll look bangin' on your resume so you're doing yourself a massive favour by upskilling!

So stop with the excuses! It's not too late to start a Youtube channel in 2021, so go for it!! You're unique! You're talented! You're passionate!
