Young people

NBY delivers the Australian Government’s Transition to Work service in Broome. Young people receive intensive pre-employment support to help them understand what is expected in the workplace and develop the skills, attitudes and behaviours expected by employers. For employers we deliver high quality services to ensure young people entering employment meet their needs and are well supported to settle into a job. 

The Warrmijala Murrgurlayi (Rise up to Work) Program, focuses on sustainable employment as a catalyst for individuals to create positive change to realise the life they want for themselves and their families. Mentored against a Framework that will allow individuals to focus on all areas of their life while they work towards employment. 

Eligibilty

Transtion to Work - is for young people aged 15 to 24 years. It is targeted to early school leavers and young people who have experienced difficulty transitioning from education to employment. All young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible.

Eligibility will also depend on a young person’s circumstances, including whether the young person:

·has been awarded a Year 12 certificate or Certificate III

·has been employed within the last six months

·receives an income support payment such as Youth Allowance

·is currently participating in another employment service including jobactive

Warrmijala Murrgurlayi - is for young people aged 15 to 30 years. It is targeted to all young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who reside in Broome, who are currently not in fulltime employment and require assistance to gain sustainable employment with Shell, it's supply chain or the Broome economy.
