Overview
  • Have you ever wondered why you keep finding out what people are on late and struggling to pick up what's going on right now?
  • If you don't want to feel like a boomer and be in real time of the latest tech trends, we got the info for you below!

Introducing the newest and coolest apps to your friends feels ike a rite of passage to cooltown. But how in the heck are you supposed to find them in the first place. We got you covered there.

Here are 5 of the coolest apps that are killing it right now.

1. BeReal

BeReal is the newest photo sharing app on the market. BeReal encourages all of their users to be honest with ourselves and our friends through social media. Being authentic and showing life outside of the highlights is what it's all about nowadays!

How it works: Once a day, you and your friends will get an alert in which you have two minutes to send through a photo of what you’re up to at that moment. In that time, you take a photo of where you're at and once that’s sent through, then you see what your friends' days look like. Best (or worst) of all, you can see how many times it takes your friends to capture their photo. P.S it takes a selfie and frontal photo simultaneously so beware how close your face is to your screen.

2. Locket Widget

Another fun photo sharing app, but with Locket Widget, you can send as many photos a day directly to your friends homescreen. As it can have as many photos as you like throughout the day, there is a little less pressure with Locket Widget.

How it works: When a friend sends a picture, it instantly appears in the Locket Widget on your home screen. To send a response, all you do is tap the widget, take your picture and send it off to your mates. This one is a bit more intimate as well, only allowing you to add five friends!

3. Flipboard

Finding a way to get the news that you want can be tricky. I spend ridiculous amounts of time scrolling through my Instagram feed trying to find a news story I’m interested in. Flipboard can help cut down this scrolling time and deliver the news that you’re looking for, straight to you.

How it works: The app suggests different topics that you may be interested in. Simply choose your faves, and just like that, you're done. All of your interests are now available and accessible! Download this one and start enjoying some news in a flipping fun way!

4. Pocketbook

If you just started at a new job, or have been working after school and on the weekends for years, you probably can’t quite keep track of where your money is going sometimes. Let's pretend we aren’t spending all our money on Chatime's and coffees. If you need to be a little stricter on your money, here's one for you.

How it works: Pocketbook connects to your bank accounts and shows your weekly expenses, bills and spending habits. Pocketbook will collate your habits for you, so you can set your goals and actually reach them! This one has definitely put my money into perspective.

5. BOM - Bureau of Meteorology

Who can pass up a good weather app? Not me. The Bureau of Meteorology app slaps hard. Tell me you don’t want to spend hours watching that rain radar sweep across the screen, and I know you're lying. And that’s not all that’s good about it. If you don't know whether you need that jumper for your walk to uni, the humidity will tell all. Don’t know what time you need to leave the library to get home before dark? You now know not only what time sunset is, but also sunrise. Need to know if there are any current weather warnings, they’ve got you covered. Essentially, BOM is the gold of weather apps. You're not too cool for the BOM, trust me.

Not sponsored at all, but these are our biased personal faves out there on the market (I mean, app store). Try these apps out - we guarantee they will change your life for the better!
