Overview
  • If being the #1 ranked university just isn't cutting it for ya, here are some of our top reason why you should make sure the Australian National University is at the top of your preferences list.

Deciding to go to uni is half the battle, but once you’ve committed to the idea, how the heck do you decide where you actually want to go? It can feel like a real tangle of reasons and weigh-ups, which is why we wanted to make it simple for ya and lay down 5 reasons why you should put a course at ANU at the top of your list.

Canberra is supes affordable to live in

If you’re studying at ANU you can get big-city education, at smaller-city accommo prices. On average, renting a 3-bedder in the inner-city is about 35% less spenno than somewhere like Sydney, which means living on that student budget is going to be waaaay easier. Think more luxe takeout options, hobbies, gym memberships. That extra hundred or so bucks a week is a huge difference, believe me. You can also live on-campus with a great social life, zero commute times and loads of facilities to boot.

The students come from all over Aus

If you’re living in one of our state capital cities, it can feel like you keep seeing the same people follow you all the way from primary school to uni. The great thing about ANU is that people come from all over to study there, so you actually get to branch out and make friends from all walks of life. Once you finish up you could have mates in every state, and a couch to crash on if you ever decide to visit their hometowns. It’s also great just to get an idea of what it’s like to live on the other side of the country, or bond over whether it’s potato scallops or potato cakes (team scallop over here, but I’m just fancy like that).

More attention from your teachers

One of the reasons ANU is so great is because they have a top notch student to teacher ratio. If you’re going to one of our top-ranked unis, the last thing you want is to just be another number in the system, but ANU has done a great job in keeping class sizes smaller, so that you can get the feedback you need to do your best out there.

Great early entry and scholarship programs

ANU also wants to make sure that nothing stands in the way of you getting there, or reaching your potential while you’re there. If you live regional, rural or remote, there are scholarships available to help you move and get set up on-campus, or if you come from a low SES background and need some help paying the bills while you’re studying, there’s loads of scholarship opportunities to help ya out. Make sure you take a look to see what you could be eligible for!

It’s literally ranked #1 in Australia

Okay, we might have buried the lede here a bit, but why wouldn’t you put the #1 Aussie university at the top of your list? The QS World University Rankings are the most widely viewed uni rankings worldwide, and looks at a whole bunch of factors like the quality of research, student/faculty ratio, employer reputation and international orientation to give an overall score, and ANU is smack bang at the top of the list here in Aus.

Consider this a bit of a breeze through the top reasons. If you’re feeling razzed and looking to find out just how great these benefits can be, why not drop them a line over on our Connect page?
