The Best Apps To Help You Study
Overview
- Finding ways to loosen the hold of procrastination during study periods is really hard.
- But by finding some useful apps to help you study, that procrastination can become just a memory.
1. Forest
For those of you who keenly procrastinate with the many exciting wonders of your phone, I can guarantee forest will break down that relationship and get you motivated to work hard.

Forest is an app which grows trees each period of time you put your phone down and work. While yes you have the ability to go off and do other things other than work, being forced to put my phone down and not use it until the timer ends because I didn't want to kill my trees helped me gain those essential study hours. Even better, you can add friends and compete against them to spend the most hours away from your phone and create the biggest forest!
2. Focus Keeper

Focus keeper is a relatively simple app I've been using for seven years now.
It consists of a timer that dings each time the set period ends. You can set a period of work time, 25 minutes or more, and schedule in a 5 or more minute break after each work period ends. By giving yourself smaller increments of time to work with, rather than hour after endless hour, you will feel more motivated to work hard for that 25 minutes to get to your little brain break.
While I like to set my timers for a total cycle of 30 minutes, you can set the timers for as long or short as you like, it just helps to give yourself a sense of how long you will work for.
3. Onenote

Onenote is one of the best apps I started using in high school. From colour coding and designating where work goes, to being able to draw with a whole tab dedicated to drawing shapes, hand writing annotations or maths equations. It has all the best features of words, but with an unlimited space to collate your best work.
With access to all these features onenote really is top tier when it comes to taking notes or creating mind maps!
4. Quizlet

There really is nothing quite like a lovely pair of handmade flashcards. However, quizzing yourself has never been easier with Quizlet. From being able to create an unlimited number of flashcards, to finding those that others have already created on the similar topic to what you’re studying, quizlet has saved me from one too many stressful nights before an exam.
While if you want to access further functions within the app, you have to pay, the simple aspects like using the flashcards is still perfect.
5. Flora

While Forest is my one and only true love, flora is a great habit tracker which uses a similar layout to incentivise productivity.
By setting a timer under a different habit, users have to stay within the flora app to let their tree or plant grow. You can set different habits and trackers to understand and see where the most of your time goes in a day. By tracking your daily use manually, Flora helps to force acknowledgement of what you are spending your time doing and if that is effective. And to keep your trees alive you have to come back and repeat the habit every seven days to keep the tree alive.
FInding the right way to study is not easy, but by giving yourself a hand with some apps can help bring the motivtion up and keep you on track. For those who are in study periods right now, good luck! One of these apps will for sure help you sty on the motivation train.
