Here's What A Day In The Life Of A Uni Student Looks Like
University is a whole new world. A world full of pulling all-nighters to smash out essays you didn’t think were due for another week, always working out exactly how many marks you need to get in the final exam to pass the unit and paradoxically skipping a day of uni to catch up on uni but somehow managing to end up even further behind.
But whilst it can be frazzling at times, uni is pretty unreal too. So let us enlighten you on what a day of uni looks like.
Morning
When I started uni, I kept having dreams of rocking up to my morning lecture butt naked. Anyways, no matter what your dreams are, they'll inevitably be interrupted by the jarring sound of your alarm in the morning. You'll rush through showering, inhaling brekkie, packing your bag forgetting either your charger or earphones and even though you're constantly telling yourself that you won't arrive to uni looking like a slob again, you look at the time and realise that you're gonna be late. Trackies it is... again. But hey, at least you brushed your teeth!
You'll either walk, commute or drive to your campus. Whilst driving is the most comfortable choice, this may include struggling to find a park for 20 minutes. Classic stitch up.
Lectures
No matter your schedule, an average day at uni will probably include a lecture.
Lectures are a prime time to fall in love with someone sitting two rows in front of you that you've never seen before or become mates with the girl next to you who shared her chocolate bar.
Lectures are also a trying time that requires self-control. You could actively listen and take notes or you could also play The Sims and scroll down Facebook and Instagram feeds. Pick your poison, really.
Break
Unlike high school, your breaks will be all over the place. If you get a break around lunchtime, it'll most likely include rushing to the closest cafe and grabbing a much-needed coffee to keep those energy levels up. You'll then either buy a meal or find a microwave to heat up last nights' dinner... hello, saving cash money!
During this break, you'll sit with your mates in the sun, getting those vitamin D levels up to make up for the hours and hours spent in classrooms. You'll all banter over how that one lecturer's spit can reach four rows back or the dreaded exams approaching. Bless.
You might also spend this break in the library, frantically smashing out an essay or doing the required readings that are due for your next tutorial.
Tutorials
Tutorials are a little like high school classes. They're smaller, more individual and may require you getting pulled up to discuss your theories on the required readings (hence why you read them, thank god).
And if you're real lucky, the dreaded word "group project" may come up and you'll pray that you don't get put in a group with the slacko's. Plot twist if you're the slacko, lmao.
Party
Oh, did I mention that it’s Friday night? Your uni is throwing a toga party so you better rush home and find a sheet you don't mind getting messy! Oh my word, is that the cutie from your morning lecture at the party?
Uni parties are seriously the best. Although, make sure you don't go too hard. Chances are when you're at uni, you've got a massive assessment to do that weekend and being hungover will not help. But hey, that's what uni life is all about... right?
