Overview
  • Want to wake up on the right side of the bed every morning?
  • Follow these tips and every day will feel like those cheesy morning sequences in Disney films (that's a promise).

The key to a great day is a great morning. If you have to get ready in a rush or waste your whole morning on your phone, you’re setting yourself up to be in a foul mood.

So to make sure that doesn’t happen, here are some tips to help you make the most of the AM.

Buy an alarm clock

Pretty much everyone these days sets an alarm on their phone every single morning. And what’s the first thing you do when you turn off the alarm? Go for a scroll. So instead of setting alarms on your phone, get a cheap alarm clock! You can even find clocks that play the radio instead of an annoying alarm. Then just set it to your favourite station and trust me, it’ll be the most peaceful way to wake up (other than naturally).

Pick up a book instead of your phone

So now you’ve got an alarm clock instead of your phone next to your bed when you wake up, instead of going on your phone first thing, find a book you’re interested in reading and leave it next to your bed. Read a few pages to get your day started and you’ll feel bliss. This is something I wish I did wayyyyy more often because the greatest mornings of my life have all started with a good reading sesh.

Drink water

Staying hydrated has a huge impact on your energy levels and happiness throughout the day. So get yourself off to a good start by leaving a glass or bottle of water next to your bed and send some mLs down the hatch as soon as you wake up.

Wake up at the same time every morning

You know when you wake up right before your alarm goes off and it’s so much better than the rude awakening of that mind-numbing iPhone alarm tone!? Well, your body clock is a real thing, and if you wake up at the same time most mornings, there’ll be a higher chance of waking up naturally, rather than *that* alarm disturbing you while you’re deep in slumber.

Make your bed

You’ve probs heard this so many times, but making your bed is a great way to trick your brain into feeling really productive from the get-go. Also, when your space looks tidy and put together, it has the same effect on your brain. It really is an all-round win and it takes so little effort.

Practice a bit of mindfulness

There’s no better way to start the day than with a bit of meditation and/or journaling. The best part is, it literally takes 15 mins to have a solid session of both. Spend 5 minutes journaling to get the thoughts out of your head, then spend the next ten meditating. You’ll feel so relaxed afterwards and grateful that you took time out for yourself to slow down and breathe.

Schedule your day

Knowing exactly what you need to get done during the day is the key to a clear mind and a productive attitude. Make sure you also schedule plenty of breaks to look forward to and time spent doing the things you love. Plus, being able to tick off items on a to-do list is the most satisfying thing everrrr.

Get ready the night before

Why put up with rushed mornings when you can prep the night before and have a luxuriously chilled-out morning instead? Pick out an outfit, organise your food for the day and make sure your bag is packed and ready to go before you go to bed. That way, you can take your time in the morning and not be running late every time you leave the house.

In the same way breakfast is the most important meal of the day, the first couple hours of your morning are just as crucial. A great morning is the key to a good mood and an enjoyable day. So by avoiding your phone as much as possible, taking steps for your well-being and prepping your day in advance, you’ll be right on track for the best days of your life.
