How To Find Love In Iso
What a conundrum.
During the very inconvenient (to say the least) COVID pandemic, romance has suffered astronomically. Cupid is frantically trying to make his bow digital since love is being found more times than not, online! But how do we navigate this new world of online dating and social distancing?
Here is the hot goss on how to find love during iso.
1. Slide into those DMs
Cupid would approve of this one.
All you have to do is pop onto your social media account of choice and slide into some DMs. What about that guy you met at that gig? Or that girl you met at book club? Just message them! What have you got to lose? Oh, boo hoo, they don't reply. Who cares! There are plenty of other people you can message, I'm sure of it.
Let's be real. Everyone is pretty bored and lonely in the age of iso! Most people would appreciate a fresh face sparking up a convo! As I always love to say- send it.
2. Dating apps
Look, life is obviously different. Most of the opportunities we had to meet new people, whether that be at festivals or uni parties, are gone for a while. Dating apps have become the norm to hit up people you would have normally met IRL.
Don't take dating apps too seriously and just to have fun with it. Do it alongside a mate and egg each other on to message some whack one-liners. To be fair, the weird messages normally get the quickest replies... Probably a breath of fresh air from all the "how's COVID treating you? haha" messages.
3. Put yourself out there
If restrictions have eased where you are and you're able, healthy and comfortable to go to work, out for dinner, to the gym or whatever it is that you do- put yourself out there!
Here's an example. At my hospo job, we have to record everyone's name and number for COVID regulations. After someone I find groovy tells me their number, I'll jokingly say "now do you want mine?"
I'll laugh as if it's a joke and so will they... unless... Let's just say I've scored some dates from that one.
All I'm saying is now isn't the time to miss opportunities. If you meet a mutual friend who is carved by the gods themselves, bloody ask them out! It's scary, I know, but life is too short and what else is there to do?
Now, love doesn't have to be a battlefield riddled by COVID and non-mask enthusiasts. Just have fun with it and stay positive! In no time, Cupid will digitally fly that arrow your way and you'll be the odd successful story of managing to score a date in a pandemic.
Cupid's lil' helper out, xoxo.
