Why You Should Drunk Text Them

You've heard all of the reasons on why you shouldn't drunk text them:

"You'll seem desperate"

"It shows that you're thinking about them a lot"

"It kills the chase"

"It shows that you have no self-control"

*Rolling my eyes*

One website literally said, regarding women drunk texting men, "He'll wonder what happened to that strong, independent woman he was initially attracted to". I genuinely gasped when I saw this. 

When did dating come with so many rules?!

Okay, I get some of these statements. Some drunk texts really can be catastrophic. But, I think I've mastered finding that drunkness that fuels me with enough liquid courage to be witty, confident and sly without being a total, desperate nutcase whose message I can't even decipher the next morning. Sure, that can be a bit cringe. 

But, like any debate, here is my rebuttal to why you should drunk text them.

1. Liquid courage can be a helping hand

Sliding into someone's DM's can be terrifying! 

But when you've had a cider or two, you become a little more carefree. Those petty thoughts like "what if they don't message back", or "what if they're not into me", evaporate in that moment, leaving you more courageous and confident. Sure, you may regret it in the morning but you should be proud that you've mustered up the courage to do it!

2. It shows that you're thinking about them

God forbid, the people we're into find out that we're into them?!

Why do we feel the need to be so coy when we're crushin' on someone. Of course, there's a line. You can't be fawning over them 24/7 and kissing the ground they walk on. You are a strong, independent person in that regard.

But if you're into them, why hide it? Life is too short to play these silly little games for years. Sure, the chase and waiting game is fun in romantic movies, I mean, there'd be no plot without it. But I'm a busy gal, I can't be bothered copping sexual tension with someone forever!

Let's get this show on the road I say! So yeah, if you text them something whilst a lil' drunk, it may show that you're thinking about them but hallelujah, that's a good thing! Who knows, they might just be thinking about you too. You'll never know if you don't try.

This doesn't show that you lack "self-control", this shows that you're confident and honest from the get-go! What a turn-on.

3. You're distracted

Normally when I text someone I'm crushing on, the second I press 'send', it's like I'm going up a rollercoaster, slowly, slowly, slowly.

My stomach twists and turns and is bombarded with butterflies as I anxiously wait for the drop - their reply. I can't stop checking my phone, I'm tense and frazzled, I message my friends "was it a stupid text? Should I unsend it??!".

When I'm a little tipsy however, I'm distracted by a million different things. I just don't care!

Maybe you're out clubbing, at a party or at a gig. You're probably too busy playing beer pong or boogieing in the mosh to keep checking your phone for their response. 

Letting go of that stress and anxiety and just still having a fun night is why I find drunk texting so fun! It's liberating and relieving! 

Life is too short not to go for it. So just send it!
