I don't know about you, but sticky summer is where I thrived. But when winter rolled around, my motivation and adventure drives would decrease dramatically, causing me to just hibernate over the cold months and pray that it gets hot soon.

But then, last year, my friends dragged me out of the heated house into the world and showed me how unreal travelling in winter can be!

Stock up on thermals, puffer jackets, beanies and gloves because here are some gnarly winter holiday ideas.

Camping

Camping is a mega vibe. Pack some blankets, fold-out chairs, a deck of cards, some cheeky bevvies for when you've set up shop, enough snacks and maybe even your laptop so you can watch a movie under the stars. I wouldn't suggest any horror movies, especially if they're set in the great outdoors... I didn't get a wink of sleep.

Grab that old tent from the back of the cupboard and don't worry if you have no idea how to set it up... you'll figure it out somehow. And remember, it's winter, so rug the heck up! Layers, people... layers!

Snowboard or Ski

Escaping to the mountains will help you soak up wellbeing and rejuvenation... oh and you'll be able to absolutely SEND IT!

I have two left feet and am pretty terrified of chair lifts but I still find snowboarding with my mates to be a viiiibe. You'll get some classic stories, like when you get caught under the chair lift (hence why I'm scared of them) and have a ball too.

Lake Jindabyne, for example, is unreal around this time of year! Be sure to suss out tickets, accomodation and even social distancing rules before you commit though.

Adventure

Australia is pretty glorious in winter so get amongst it! Go for some hikes around secluded beaches or mountain ranges (like The Blue Mountains in Katoomba, NSW) with no sweat! Suss out some unreal sights, like the Mackenzie Falls in Grampians National Park, Victoria.

You could even take a road trip up the coast. The Gold Coast will still be reasonably warm! Oh and good ol' GC has a number a theme parks that will be pretty quiet during winter. You won't have to line up for 2 hours for a 30-second rollercoaster! Capitalise on the cold weather bringing fewer crowds!

Shopping

If you're not so keen on being out in the wilderness during winter (which is fair enough as frostbite is a scary fate), consider shopping 'til you drop in a funky destination like Melbourne! It's all about fashurn darling and Melbourne is renowned for having some funky stores to update your winter wardrobe. Not to mention, funky bars and restaurants to keep you occupied and indoors (closest to the heating!).

So rug up and go have the ultimate winter holiday!
