5 Places We'll Appreciate More After Iso
As the saint, the prophet, the goddess Dolly Parton once sang: "you can't have a rainbow without a little rain..."
No word of a lie, Coronavirus has been more of an endless hailstorm with the occasional cyclone, but the sentiment still stands. After this time of daily stir craziness, feeling cooped up and zoned out, we'll be able to appreciate all the places we used to hit up all the more.
1. Restaurants and cafes
No matter why you're eating a meal out - whether you're catching up with old friends, treating yourself to a much needed boujee meal or having a tinder date and thinking whilst you chew on your pasta "they seemed taller in their photos" - going to restaurants and cafes are a special experience. It's defs to do with the fact that it's bringing together two of my favourite things - food and good company.
I will especially appreciate restaurants and cafes opening because my culinary abilities would make Gordon Ramsay want to retire. I need this.
2. Pubs and clubs
I have missed lining up to buy my fave drink (Young Henry's Cider, sponsor me please), giving advice to the strangers lining up next to me, screaming my drink order as the music is too loud, and finally spilling half of my drink whilst boogieing like a lunatic with my mates anyway. Then repeat. It's the circle of life.
Gigs, pub crawls, happy hour... it's all music to my ears that have been sorely missed. When pubs and clubs open, I'll kiss the floor (actually, I take that back... I'd probably get an infection), talk to anyone and everyone as I miss making new friends and galivant around like a kid in a toy shop, absolutely euphoric.
3. Work
During the start of isolation, not going to work was pretty red hot. Who would have thought that I'd actually miss it?
When we return to our places of work, we'll be all the more appreciative of the deep and meaningful convos we'd share with our workmates. I mean, workmates are akin to therapy tbh. We'll love laughing about ridiculous customers and ranting about crappy bosses. Wholesome times all around.
4. School
Whether you're in high school, uni or TAFE, you've probably grown sick of awkward zoom encounters like forgetting to mute your microphone whilst you're on the toilet or your internet cutting out. My eyes feel like they're going square from all this screentime.
For most of us, returning to studying IRL will be such a vibe. Learning is easier and more personal, you'll get to see your mates again, not to mention that seeing my crush on zoom doesn't give me the same stomach butterflies as seeing them in person.
5. Cinemas
Remember seeing the last Avengers movie at the cinemas? The 'OHH!'s and 'AHH!'s from the crowd echoing around you, bringing unity to a room of strangers. Can you get any more wholesome than that?
When we can all go to the cinemas again, the aroma of popcorn will be all the more appreciated. I mean, who doesn't like going to the cinemas? To me, online streaming can't match the cinema experience.
Time is passing by and from the looks of it, I guess that rainbow is slowly but surely showing itself! Hang in there and keep on reminicising on ~good~ mems.
